The game of consequences: Be careful what you wish for – you might get it!
HIM: Neil Carmody. Metal worker and keyboard player from Perth, W.Australia. Spent the last few years building oil installations in Balikpapan, Indonesia.
HER: Suzy Carmody. Rock doctor from Devon, England. Worked around the world in oil exploration and spent the last four years in the Central Plains, Thailand.
HOW THEY MET: Sailing aboard S/v Star of Siam in Osakarn Bay at the foot of Mt. Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.
WHAT HE SAID TO HER: “I want to live on a boat by the time I’m fifty”
WHAT SHE SAID TO HIM: “Sounds nice!” (What she thought: “Hmm, nice to meet a guy who doesn’t want to settle down!”
AND THE CONSEQUENCE WAS: They worked hard for the last four years to save up the cash to buy a boat. In December 2005 they got married and In January 2006 they found Distant Drummer, 2 days after Neil’s 51st birthday!
MAYA:An as yet untested crew member, Maya lives with her Mum in Nelson, New Zeland. She’s 13 years old going on 15 and has a taste for haute couture and Red Rooster!
