We are Suzy and Neil and we live on board our sailboat Distant Drummer. Since we bought her in Thailand twelve years ago we have sailed more than 30,000 ocean miles. Cruising on a sailboat is a fantastic way of life; harmonious, adventurous and romantic!
Distant Drummer is a Liberty 458 cutter rigged sloop built in Taiwan in 1984. She has a fibreglass hull, teak decks and is fitted with all essential safety equipment. Below deck the cabins and salon are lined with teak giving a cozy warmth and traditional charm to the boat.
Accommodation is provided in the aft cabin which is fitted with a king size bed and has an en suite bathroom with a hot shower. The galley is too small for guests but meals and hot drinks are served in the salon where we hang out and chat or read. Internet is available on board and we have a great supply of movies and music. The cockpit is where we spend most of our time. It is protected from the weather by a bimini and hard dodger, it is comfortably cushioned and is a perfect place to relax and enjoy life.
Access from shore to our floating island is via dinghy. We’ll be there to pick you up and drop you off and will gladly give you a ride ashore whenever we are at anchor. You need to be moderately agile as the step up from the dinghy in to the boat is about 3ft but we’ll be there to give you a hand.
Staying on board our 45′ sailboat provides a unique opportunity to live off the grid, share our lifestyle and experience the world from a different angle. We love to chat and will be available throughout your stay if you’d like to learn more about our cruising life. Have a look around our website if you’d like to meet us, find out more about the boat or read about our adventures.
This is a not-for-profit boat so any payment made to us is a donation towards the maintenance and operating costs of the boat.
